Education and Advocacy
YES! board and support group members actively participate in research conferences, presentations, and round tables to share our personal stories with the aim of creating needed understanding and change. Education and advocacy are essential in the field of young-onset dementia (YOD) because this diagnosis is often misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or overlooked entirely. Individuals with YOD face unique challenges: many are still working, raising families, or caring for others when symptoms begin.
By increasing awareness and educating the public, medical professionals, and policymakers, we can reduce stigma, improve early diagnosis, and ensure that families affected by YOD have access to age-appropriate services and support. Advocacy also drives the development of new resources, funding, and research specific to this younger population, helping to close critical gaps in care and understanding.
Meet Our Experts
YES! is driven by a very active and engaged board, many of whom have a personal connection to YOD. The YES! Team drives the push to raise awareness about the resources that YES! has to the community who needs them most.
